Safety while driving

Never operate the Vehicle Speed Test app while driving alone. Do not glance at your phone while in motion. If you would like to track speed while driving, use a passenger to hold the phone, or only check the readings when safely stopped. Always obey the speed limit and follow all applicable road traffic laws.

Accuracy

GPS speed depends on satellite signal quality, your device hardware, weather, and how the device is positioned. Readings can be temporarily inaccurate near tall buildings, inside tunnels, on indoor or underground sections of public transport, and when satellite coverage is otherwise degraded. The figures shown should not be treated as a calibrated measurement instrument.

Not a substitute for vehicle instruments

This tool is not a replacement for the speedometer in your car or any other vehicle. The driver of a vehicle must rely on the vehicle's instruments. Vehicle Speed Test is intended only as a convenient secondary reference for passengers, cyclists, runners, and curious commuters.
